When a source document is supplied using a
TransformerHandler, no document number is allocated;
this results in the generate-id() function returning
illegal id's such as d-1e101. The XSLT specification
states that the id must be alphanumeric.
I'm not aware of any other adverse side-effects of
having a default document number of -1, but they may
exist.
