Bug #5900 is about the fact that we explicitly don't load system catalogs by default.
I'm tempted to add an option, mabye -default-catalogs:on that enables them.

Looking a little more closely, it appears that the practical effect of such an option would be the same as saying -catalog:./catalog.xml. That's not appreciably longer than -default-catalog:on and is probably clearer.
