when I get warnings such as 'Source document ignored - query does not access the context item' is there any way if suppressing them ? regards, Jim Fuller

This particular warning comes from the command line interface and not from the XQuery engine proper, and there is no way to suppress it, other than not using the command line interface. As a general principle, I design command line interfaces for the casual user and assume that production applications will be written to the Java or .NET API.
