Hello, does someone have an idea are there listed dofferences between saxonrelease 8.9 and 8.5.5.1! I have a book and there are many examples with saxon 5.5.1 and I would like to know the accordant functions in the new version because I want to get familiar with saxon and xslt. Thank you in advanced!

Do you mean Saxon 5.5.1 or Saxon 8.5.5.1?? I guess you mean 5.5.1 since there was never an 8.5.5.1. 5.5.1 was released a very long time ago. In principle you can follow the change history and look at all the changes made in between but it's an extremely long list. The primary difference is that 5.5.1 supported XSLT 1.0 whereas current releases support XSLT 2.0. Most things that are standard XSLT should still run unchanged, but there will be many differences in Saxon-specific things such as extension functions and the Java API.
