In the trace output produced by running XSLT with the -T option, the xsl:template entry that should occur when entering or leaving a template is missing in the case where the body of the template is a single instruction. (The trace call doesn't happen because of code that tries to eliminate duplicate trace calls). A patch is being placed in Subversion.
