Also missing is samples/styles/add-ids.xsl.

I have recreated these files, but not committed them yet, since I have also discovered other issues which it would be worth resolving at the same time.

For instance, a number of JAXPExamples tests use the "Books List sample", and this has a couple of issues. The DTD reference is missing from data/books.xml, which is required for the associated stylesheet styles/books.xsl to work correctly (it uses the fn:id() function). Adding this requires a change to data/books.xsd, and I also need to check that all the other tests which use this "Books List sample" work as required (S9APIExamples, cs/Examples, etc.)...

I would like to do a full review of the java sample applications, the resources, and the documented information. This has been on my "todo list" for a while. We did quite a bit of work to test and tidy up the samples before the release of 9.7, but there is clearly more to be done. This bug is a useful prompt to take action.

New bug 3178 https://saxonica.plan.io/issues/3178 opened to log the wider issues with the samples resources. For instance, JAXPExamples.java requires further updates to get these examples working correctly.

The recreated missing files as mentioned in this bug have now been committed on the 9.7 and 9.8 branches.

Keeping this bug open until the saxon-resources download is updated (i.e. rebuilt and uploaded).
