When the constructor for a simple-content node (for example an attribute or a text node) generates a sequence that contains a text node, then one or more atomic values, then another text node, no space separator is inserted before the second text node.
The problem does not arise with element content, except when the text node is explicitly constructed for example in an xsl:value-of instruction.
A fix (module SimpleContentConstructor) is being placed in Subversion.
