Hi,

With the attached stylesheets, Saxon 9.7 runs fine:

C:>java -classpath Saxon\saxon9ee.jar net.sf.saxon.Transform -im:a -t -s:test.xsl -xsl:test.xsl

Saxon-EE 9.7.0.18J from Saxonica

Java version 1.8.0_131

Using license serial number V005669

But 9.8 generates a static error:
